Where should I do my Divemaster course?

PADI Divemaster courses are different in duration from dive school to dive school. It is important for you to do some research and ask as many questions as you can think of. Some of these are listed below. Your dive school should allocate a senior instructor to your Divemaster course who will become not just your friend, but your mentor as well.



TO INTERNSHIP OR NOT?





Internships can be great



Internships can be really beneficial. I don't agree with internships that take paying positions away. You might think, how great it is to work for free for a certain amount of time in order to get your Divemaster course for free. Nothing could be further from the truth. What you are doing is not only taking a paid position away from someone, but you are also devaluating your own worth.


Having said that, internships can be great, especially if you don't have much experience in the dive industry. But you should pay for your course and then see what is involved in the internship you are signing up to.


Some Divemaster courses take 6 weeks to complete and others take three months. It really all depends on what additional extras the dive school is offering.

Internships are a great way of getting your dives up as you will need 60 dives by the time you compete your course.

The more you know, the more you know...



I've never done a night dive before. Is a night dive included in my training?

I don't have 60 dives yet. How many dives will I do over the Divemaster course?

The course is this much.... Are there any additional extras?
Does the course fee cover all learning materials?

How often do you run Openwater courses? A lot of your training will be with Openwater course students. If your school only runs an Openwater course once per month this will impact on the time you can complete your DM course.

Where can I do a dive medical? You will need this for your DM course.

Does the school you are talking to offer First Aid and CPR courses? You will need this for your DM course.

I know I need all my own dive gear. But I don't have this or that. Can I buy through your shop? Do you have a DM package you can recommend?
